Donations by Organization

  • Learning Unlimited: The youth of the school raised money for the I Can Home
  • Le Grande Marche Food Drive: The public can make a donation by adding an amount to their bill, or contributions can be made through points collected on their Customer Advantage card.
  • Inmates Donation: Coordinator of the prison rehabilitation program Ms. Henrietta Doran-York brought a group of inmates together and donated groceries.
  • Island Gems and Sail & the City: Money donated to purchase a new bus for the foster home.
  • October 29th, 2006 Donation from Le Gran Marche on the occasion of the opening of their new Supermarket in Cole Bay

Activities

  • Acts 29 foundation Took children fishing on August 6th, 2006
  • Magician Show at the Great Bay Hotel, invited by UIJMA fundraising Thursday July 30th.
  • St. Maarten Sunrise Rotary Club planted 13 fruit trees in the play ground area of the home. Along with the S.M.T.A. Dollar-A-Day Program they purchased the trees and equipment to plant
  • Directors Meeting hosted by St.Maarten for the first time participants: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St. Eustatius
  • Dutch Minister Alexander Pecthold Visited: Tuesday March 28th, 2006 & Tuesday May 16th, 2006
  • Dutch Minister Remkes visited on Aug 25th, 2006
  • Positive Connection Hotline 9200: Schools were contacted at the beginning of the year to make a presentation. St. Dominic School was the first for the year
  • I Can Foundation celebrated 10th Anniversary, July 17th 2006 The day was celebrated with a small intimate lunch with the board members.
  • Announcement that the Dutch Queen Beatrice will visit the home on November 10th, 2006: The Advance team visited the I Can Home on August 23rd, 2006 and October 27th, 2006 in preparation for The Queen visit.
  • Radio Holland interviewed the children and Ms.Gibbs on 28th October, 2006 in connection with the Queen Beatrice's visit

Volunteers

  • Anja Van der Sman was one of our long standing volunteers. She was committed and passionate to the vision of the I Can Foundation. She said farewell to us on 30th August 2006. She treated the children & staff to a boat ride and lunch at Green House. It was one of those rare occasions where the entire household joined in the celebration.
  • Medical Students from the American University of the Caribbean took children 4 years and up to lunch. They went to a restaurant at Maho Beach Hotel in September, and October to the Philipsburg movies.
